SLEEP
TEMPEST
'Sleep
tempests' debut 3 song cd was recorded
& mixed over seven days at Elevenpm
Studios in late 2006. Formerly known as
Cloud Vegas, the quintets atmospheric
blend of sounds has been likened to UK
bands Portishead and Siouxie and the Banshees
and this band are definately one of the
most exciting bands to come out the Sunshine
Coast in a long time.
"Sewing memory
to ether
Reverie
Some Lilly white night
There’s a flash that hits me,
Blinding
Draws me from sleep.
So fixing kite strings to the edges of
my dress-sleeves
I think I might follow its reflection
Suspended by light.
Across deserts
And oceans"

HATZ
& ITCHY
Hatz
Fitz's recordings are always a heap of
fun and shenanagins and Elevenpm Studios
was chuffed at recording his last two
albums. "Stray Hat" , Hatz's
solo cd & "Hat Manz on hiz way"
by Hatz & Itchy. Anyone unfamiliar
to their sound would be best informed
in the album revue by America's No 1 Blues
publication "Blues Revue"
Album Reviews
Hat
Fitz and Itchy - On Hiz Way
From America's No 1 Blues publication
"Blues Revue" Issue 103, Dec
/ Jan 2007.
'[ with a nod to the hypnotic, one chord
Hill Country sound ] on the self-released
HAT MAN'z on hiz way ! Fitz plays resonator
guitar with an insistent groove,
growling out the lyrics, while Itchy pounds
the skins.
The title track, "Black Nite",
and "Hold my hand" lean toward
the R.L.Burnside school,
while "Foot Dog Rag" and "Freddy
Spaghetti" are more delicate.
Well-known songs receive imaginative treatments:
"Motherless Children" is wobbly
and weird, and "Death Letter"
races along recklessly.'

SIXFTHICK
Six Ft Hick are from
Brisbane, Queensland Australia....(Brisbane
produced some great bands, The Saints and
The Bee-gees, The Go-Betweens being just
three of 'em.) The current line-up:.......
Vox - Geoffro Corbett (The Tremors) Vox
- Gentle Ben Corbett (Gentle Ben & His
Sensitive Side) Guitar - Dr Dan Baebler
(The Tremors; Side Effects) Bass - Tony
the Jackal Giacca (Side Effects) Drums -
Fred (The Fred Band; Rocky Outcrop Experience).............
In retrospect, and the other members would
agree, I reckon we were shit for the first
3 years but for the next 8 we were white
heat fkn genius! A dual pronged rocknroll
hydra - sleazing forth from the swamps,
cane drains and lantana of Shitsville, Queensland
(population: You.) With a sound pilfered
and plundered from the bottom drawers of
rock n roll backed with an if it aint broke
- then lets fck with it attitude we unapologetically
stumble, drunkenly, headlong into the night.
Howling at dogs and humping the air while
praying for your enlightenment. Yes. Thats
what we do. We are Canepunk. We got fangs.
But we walk upright just like you, we bleed
and sweat just like you. We are the king
hit at the piss-trough of life...........more

the
kindness of strangers
Myspace :

"TKOS duo Brigitte
Jean Allen and David Killin are oh so
versatile and talented. The tracks are
all classics and are a richly layered
tapestry of string and wind sounds mixed
with velvet smooth vocals. ‘Raindrops’
reminds one of early Church tunes, while
‘Ghost In Love’, a lyric from
beyond the grave, is masterfully mixed
and sensitively sung and is reminiscent
of Nick Cave, Kate Bush and DavidBowie
all at once. ‘I Know You Never Really
Loved Me’, an epic poem in itself,
is playfully and creatively tweaked to
bring out the best possible mix of ballad
and blues. A & A is a triumph for
TKOS - I’ve been listening to it
for days" (Amanda) 10/10 Tsunami
